Bonus Track: "West End Girls"

Time got away from us a little bit there and we weren't quite able to finish the "Post-Beatles British Billboarding Block" -- celebrating the four post-Beatles/Stones UK rock bands that meet the following two criteria: (a) they are included in the Top 100 Artists of All Time, as ranked by the Acclaimed Music website; and (b) they had a #1 hit in the US.

We played Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac & The Police. And the fourth "band," making the list with an asterisk by their name (since they're technically a "duo"), is ... Pet Shop Boys:

Series 3, Episode Six: "No Rix"

For the first time in the post-Rock-Show/Rick-Show-Schism Era, Rock Show is set to take center stage tonight at 7PM on The Lab @ KRUI.  Tonight's episode will be Open Format, which means that pretty much anything goes -- except, of course, that the Rick Ban will be in full effect.

Indeed, we had to pull some strings to even link to the following video, feauturing a classic cut by Rick Derringer.  Hope you enjoy it, as it may be the last sniff of Rick to ever grace the Rock Show website.

Rick Show (Formerly Rickster) is up and running!

Our entirely Rick-related sister program, Rick Show, is now available in blog-only format at http://rickshowiowa.blogspot.com/. Check it out. Enjoy some wonderful videos featuring Rick Astley and Ricky Gervais. Make a Rickquest! Thanks to Paul for making this dream a reality.

Series 3, Episode 5: "The Weather"

If you weren't able to catch Rock Show last week, you missed Chris' poignant reminiscing about "when Prince won the Superbowl"—upsetting the heavily favored Colts and Bears—by closing his show-stealing halftime performance with a symbol-laden rendition of "Purple Rain"...performed in the midst of actual rain!

Anyone up for a game of basket—erfootball?

This week's episode—provisionally titled "The Weather"—threatens to invite similar musings as we tackle some of the rock genre's greatest songs related to rain, sun, snow, wind, sleet, cloudiness, fog, hurricanes, and perhaps even hail. Please send us your requests and tune in tomorrow (Wed) night at 7:00 CDT.

Series 3, Episode 3: "Open Format"

Sometimes a video says it all.

And other times, a video makes absolutely no sense until the internet-only radio hosts who posted it to their blog explain what it's all about.

"Which of the two scenarios is this?" you're probably asking. Tune into The Lab at 7pm to find out.
