The Beatles - Her Majesty
So You Think You're In Love - Robyn Hitchcock
The Perfect Girl - The Cure
God Only Knows - David Bowie
Squeeze Box - The Who
Hold Me Tight (Medley) - Paul McCartney & Wings
Woman - The Zombies

Crocodile Rock - Elton John
Your Song - Elton John
You Gave Me The Answer - Paul McCartney & Wings
Sweethearts Together - The Rolling Stones

Bonus Tracks: More British Love Songs

Pink Floyd - "A Pillow of Winds"

This one comes from my favorite Pink Floyd album: Meddle. This song is so thoroughly steeped in the comfort and safety of home and bed, and the quiet, reassuring companionship of your sleeping sweetheart. - Chris

John Lennon - "Oh Yoko"

Elton John - "Love Song"

Robyn Hitchcock & the Egyptians - "Insect Mother"

A weirder alternative to the Robyn Hitchcock song I elected to play during the episode proper ("So You Think You're In Love"), "Insect Mother" is more of a psychedelic rock-influenced head trip of a love song. - Chris

On The Air: 4/29/2011 "Royal Wedding Fever!"

I made this in Microsoft Paint at work in five minutes.

This Friday we're playing British love songs to celebrate the marriage of this well-to-do daughter of successful entrepreneurs to this ward of the state. I'm not sure what he does for a living. I think he was in the army for a while - or maybe that was jail. Anyway, we're very disappointed in her.

All that aside: Come and join us to celebrate LOVE! Rock Show Style!

The "1950-1969" Episode (4/22/2011) Is On The Air!

Following 2 wild weeks of loosening the standard Rock Show policies—typified by Mike's moment of Oasis indulgence, not to mention a glaring absence of catch phrases and sound effects —this week we'll be getting back to basics with a one-hour celebration of good old 50s and 60s rock.  Any requests?

"Woo-o-o-ooh, scrambled eggs!"

A lesson in songwriting: When searching for a rhyme and running into difficulty, try a non-sequitur. For instance,

It's not my name
Robyn Hitchcock & The Egyptians

Episode XII ("Open Format Vol. 4") Is On The Air!!!

Why are Chris and Mike in fear for their lives? Is it because Lawman is about to put an end to their running? Because they can hear their Mommas a'cryin? Because Hangman is comin' down from the gallows?

If the answers to such queries be of any concern to you, tune into The Lab @ KRUI this Friday at 6 for Season I, Episode XII of Rock Show: "Open Format Vol. IV."  The reward for doing so could be very bountiful indeed...

The jig is up, boys, and the news is out!
The agenda will include making amends for some items on the "Rock Show Wall of (Unfulfilled Requests) Shame" as well as dusting off a few cover songs that we didn't get to last week.

If you have other requests, comment away!
