This Friday will be our last Rock Show for the semester. Keep watching this spot (or the Facebook page) for schedule information for a possible Summer Session of Rock Show.
How do you turn your children, nieces, nephews, or the children of your friends into Rock Show fans? Start them out early with some fun, kid-friendly Classic Rock and Oldies tunes. Songs like this have had a proud history, even before The Beatles famously decreed that all toy submarines shall be yellow. (The penalty for breaking this rule is DEATH!) Maybe with enough requests, this block of "Kid Rock" could grow to take over the hour.
This is not what I meant! Do not ask us to play Kid Rock!
Alternate Caption: "Sweeeet Hoooome Aaaalabama! Dyoont, doont, dee-doo! BUUUURP!"
Schoolhouse Rock has to be represented...and my vote is either 'My Hero, Zero' or 'Three is a Magic Number'
ReplyDeleteOr Ba-wit-da-ba
yes, those two and Telegraph Line are the best of them. Three is a Magic Number is the highest rated Schoolhouse Rock song in my itunes.
ReplyDeleteI was deprived of Schoolhouse Rock as a child, but I do know the De La Soul version of "Three is a Magic Number" (off a CD I recently gave away). Just listened to the original: awesome. Will try to deliver the goods tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteThere are some good classic cartoon theme songs redone by modern artists. Underdog, Spiderman, etc.
ReplyDeleteYou could just play anything at double speed and tell us it's Alvin and the Chipmunks.
ReplyDeleteA shout out from northwest IA

ReplyDeleteHere's a link to the "Spy Rock" podcast I keep harping on about. It's Episode 4 ("Spies"). The podcast is called Little Gray Books and co-hosted by John Hodgman of The Daily Show and "I'm a PC" fame...
